《城市經(jīng)濟學雜志》為在迅速擴大的城市經(jīng)濟學領(lǐng)域發(fā)表研究論文提供了一個焦點。它發(fā)表的論文具有廣泛的學術(shù)價值，主題廣泛，采用了廣泛的城市經(jīng)濟學方法。《華爾街日報》歡迎理論性或?qū)嵶C性、積極性或規(guī)范性的論文。盡管本刊不打算是多學科的，但如果非經(jīng)濟學者對經(jīng)濟學家感興趣的話，他們的論文是受歡迎的。如果簡要說明在期刊的權(quán)限范圍內(nèi)，并且包含新信息、對已發(fā)表作品的評論或新的理論建議，也會發(fā)布簡要說明。

The Journal of Urban Economics provides a focal point for the publication of research papers in the rapidly expanding field of urban economics. It publishes papers of great scholarly merit on a wide range of topics and employing a wide range of approaches to urban economics. The Journal welcomes papers that are theoretical or empirical, positive or normative. Although the Journal is not intended to be multidisciplinary, papers by noneconomists are welcome if they are of interest to economists. Brief Notes are also published if they lie within the purview of the Journal and if they contain new information, comment on published work, or new theoretical suggestions.
